Holy Name of Jesus / St. Clement Parishes Marriage Sacrament Check List
Below you will find a check-list you can use to track the items you will need to provide the parish, and activities you will need to accomplish, to complete your Marriage Preparation.
PRE-NUTPTIAL QUESTIONNAIRE: Arrangements should be made with either Fr. Matthew or Fr. Gideon to complete this Questionnaire. This is one of the first things you want to do when you have selected your wedding date. At this meeting Fr. Matthew or Fr. Gideon will review the process with you. Below are some highlights…
FOCUS COUPLE: You will be assigned a couple who will help in your marriage preparation. After you get the names and contact information for the couple call them to make arrangements to meet. You will need to meet with them twice, so the sooner you can make arrangements to meet the better. They will provide the parish office with a letter of completion when all elements have been completed.
BAPTISM CERTIFICATES: An updated copy of both of your baptism certificates is needed for your marriage file. Each of you can get these by calling your church of baptism. Baptized Catholics will ask the church for an “annotated” copy of your Baptism Certificate for your upcoming marriage.
ARCHDICESAN RETREAT CERTIFICATE: You should have received a brochure for the "Engaged Enrichment" retreat from the priest. Registration for the program is on line. When you have completed the Archdiocesan Retreat please provide the parish with the certificate you receive. If you would like a copy for your records, we can make a copy for you.
LITURGY PLANNING: A booklet "Together for Life" (black and gold) should have been given to you by Fr. Matthew or Fr. Gideon for the planning of your readings for your wedding. The fold out sheet in the back of the book needs to be completed with your readings, songs, prayers, etc. by the time you meet with the priest to plan your ceremony. You should plan to contact the priest and make arrangements to meet with him at least six weeks before your wedding date.
MUSIC: Contact the parish musician to confirm that he/she is available to play for your wedding, and to make arrangements to select the music for your wedding.
FLOWERS/DRESSING: Please make arrangements to meet with office staff relative to the use of flowers in the church, and your dressing plans. We will go into the church to view the available room and discuss your plans for the environment/flowers.
